The Eliot Spitzer scandal is another great study in moral depravity which I have been following with relish. Diseases desperate grown by desperate appliance are relieved, or not at all! It's such a satisfying humiliation for such gross hypocrisy. Thank you Melissa Farley and Victor Malarek for pointing out what all the news stories about Spitzer have been ignoring: Prostitution is not a "victimless crime". And note that Spitzer himself was one of the strongest advocates of prostitution law reform in the country -- go after the exploiters not the exploited. Seems obvious, no? To institute laws he knew were right, against himself, whom he knew was wrong. It's a complicated moral algebra, that.
The other tasty bit is my favorite Eliot Spitzer quote, which I've been using for years, instructing white collar criminals in how to cover their asses: "Never talk when you can nod, and never nod when you can wink, and never write an e-mail because it's death." Nod nod, wink wink!
