Matt on Animal Crossing

Matt Webb's blog is full of great entries, but today's really struck me because it's about Animal Crossing, and because I spent much of the summer and fall of 2004 playing Animal Crossing on our Game Cube. I think I was processing the end of Game Neverending.

We don't have a TV any longer, so we don't play, and I'm quite glad about that, but it was a truly beautiful game, so cute, and Japanese. I can't describe it better than Matt, so go read his post.

You know, you could always play Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS. C'mon, you know you want to!

Animal Crossing is such a different kind of game. Thanks for linking to that post - facsinating.

For a while last fall, the entire family was focused on it. We would queue up and wait patiently (or not so patiently) for the chance to play. We loved the fishing, meeting new friends, and of course - decorating!

Just like a man, my husband had to get his gold plated statue in the town square, and after that he abruptly quit.

My 10 year old daughter loves it, and still plays it once a week or so. She likes to make patterns and write letters. I'm really not much of a game-er, but it's the only video game I've ever really been obsessed with.

The shine has somewhat worn off (I'm scared to go into my own house right now - oh, the roaches!), but it's a special one.

Side Note: I need to get rid of our TV - what a concept. That would mean I'd have to give up watching American Idol, and I just can't do that right now....:)

Uh oh, I saw the post you mentioned and called for my nine-year-old son to come read it before I realized it was about Animal Crossing: Wild World. Now we're both sold on it, which means a new video game and a Nintendo DS. We love Animal Crossing on the GameCube.

Matt's blog design is really cool... I've never seen such an interesting combination of colors and geometric shapes before.
