• The Encyclopedia Britannica entries on defunct card games. I tried to blog about this the other night but my computer was sulking.

• The Giant O'Brien by Hilary Mantel. Fantastic, gut-wrenching, dark. Wow. Lent to me by Quentin after I told him I was disappointed in No Country for Old Men but love Blood Meridan and Suttree. I've ordered a bunch more Hilary Mantel books as a result.
